Tobias Staub

Tobias Staub (*1997 in Winterthur, Switzerland) started receiving violin lessons with Franziska Pfenninger at the age of five. When he was 11 years old, he switched to Jens Lohmann in Zurich, where he also did the PreCollege program. In 2016 he started his Bachelor studies in Lucerne with Igor Karsko and followed it up with a Master’s degree at Mozarteum Salzburg with Annelie Gahl.
Since the start of his studies, leadership positions in the orchestra were a heavy focus and passion, starting with four years as concertmaster in Youth Symphony Orchestra Zurich conducted by David Bruchez. Furthermore he was concertmaster or section leader in Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, Philharmonie Salzburg, Chamber Philharmony Spirit of Europe, the student orchestras in Lucerne and Salzburg and more. Starting September 2022 he is an academist with Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
He’s performed as a soloist with Cosmic Percussion Ensemble, Stadtorchester Frauenfeld, Masters Orchestra in Verona, Orchester Kriens-Horw and Stringendo Zurich.
Tobias does masterclasses regularly, with Ingolf Turban, Klaidi Sahatci, Clive Brown and Esther Hoppe amongst others.
