Ildo Nandja

Ildo Nandja is een veelzijdige PanAfrikaanse Jazz bassist. Hij gebruikt zijn Afrikaanse ritmische vaardigheden en expertise om harmonische concepten in zijn composities tot uitdrukking te brengen.

Ildo Nandja is a versatile and progressive bassist with an ambitiously cross-fusion approach bent towards contemporary influenced jazz, currently based in Rotterdam – Holland.

His major influences are artists such as Anders Jormin, Shai Maestro and John Goldsby who have inspired his sound, stage performance and compositional techniques.

He uses his African rhythmical abilities and expertise to express advanced harmonic concepts to his compositions. His sound blends Panafrican rhythms and melodies with Jazz, European and contemporary world music. These musical diversities reflect his experiences and the result is a combination of an experimental eclectic sound.

Ildo graduated with a cum laude master’s degree in jazz double bass from the Conservatorium Maastricht – NL in 2019, and was awarded the highly prestigious Henriette Hustinx 2019 prize.

Since September 2019 Ildo has joined the Jazz faculty of the Conservatorium Maastricht working as a bass co-repetiror and side subject double bass.
