Marwan Magroun

Marwan Magroun is a Dutch-Tunisian commercial and documentary photographer and filmmaker. His work focuses on redefining contemporary visual culture. Magroun strives to make it more accessible and inclusive by utilizing the art of storytelling. He considers this as a necessary addition to our collective memory in which empowering people is an important outcome. His bicultural and educational background provides him diverse perspectives on social topics such as identity development and representation. The metropolitan context is his playground with interests submerged in street culture, music, fashion, design and urban architecture.

In a short period of time Magroun built himself a respectful name in the field of Dutch photography. His transmedial project The Life of Fathers won several awards, including the Zilveren Camera 2020, Paul Peters Photo Award. His documentary was selected for the International Film Festival in Rotterdam and screened on Dutch television.

Magroun has been a curator for the Nederlands Fotomuseum, guest lecturer for the Rotterdamse Academie van Bouwkunst, jury member for the Fotobond and De Kracht van Rotterdam and gives portfolio reviews to students of the St Joost School of Art & Design and several other photographers.

Currently, Magroun is assigned by the Creative Industries Fund NL to be a part of the Talent Council.
