Tim Panman

Tim Panman is a guitarist who specialises in tango, Brazilian music, classical music and South American folk music. Tim received both his Bachelor and Master degrees at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam. He is committed to a larger stage for the guitar in the Netherlands as a member of the board at the Gitaarsalon Nederland.

During his career, Tim has touched on many different musical styles, including tango, flamenco, Argentine folklore, Brazilian music, Latin American folklore and classical music. Tim likes to show how versatile the guitar is in different styles. From accompanying soloists and vocalists to being part of a rhythm section, but also playing as a soloist in many different genres. Tim started playing the guitar at the age of 6 and ended up at the Gitaarsalon in Enkhuizen, where he came into contact with many different styles such as classical, fingerstyle, Latin, flamenco, jazz and tango. There Tim was taught by Pieter Nanne Groot, a gifted guitarist and equally good teacher. After meeting his current teacher at the conservatory, Kay Sleking, Tim chose the Argentine tango and specialised for 7 years.

During and after his studies, Tim became a regular member of many different ensembles and musical companies and played concerts all over the world. Some highlights in his concert career are: The Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) the Xinhai Rehearsal Hall (Guangzhou, China) and the Historische Stadthalle in Wuppertal (Germany). Besides the performing profession Tim also works as a freelance cultural consultant solving or working out various cultural and artistic issues. He did this for Codarts Conservatory, Music Matters, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Rotterdam Youth Orchestra, among others.
