The 5 initiators of AIM (Association of Improvised Music) share their “compositional” ideas into the collective sonic space of the ensemble and challenge them to follow.
During the evening, the musicians and the audience get together to have a collective conversation around notions of improvisation.
They make the space by listening together, sharing perspectives and creating music that will only exist to later disappear, remaining as resonance.

AIM is a collective of improvisers creating opportunities for experimentation, research and performance based in Rotterdam. We share attitudes toward tactics, references, ancestors and antecedents in improvisation and push the musical practice forward in their many groups and ad hoc combinations.
We, the artists behind the initiative, recognize the culture of improvisation in our city and nourish it. AIM binds it together, it catalyzes public situations; giving back to the community of fellow improvisers and the public.

15 improvisers verzamelen zich voor een dag in het Batavierhuis.
Er zijn 5 initiatiefnemers die hun ‘compositionele’ ideeën invoeren in de collectieve sonische ruimte van het ensemble en het uitdagen om deze te volgen.
Tijdens de avond komen de muzikanten en het publiek samen om een collectief gesprek te voeren rond noties van improvisatie.
Ze maken de ruimte door samen te luisteren, perspectieven te delen en muziek te maken die alleen zal bestaan om later te verdwijnen en als resonantie te blijven.
AIM* (Association of Improvised Music) is een collectief van improvisatoren dat kansen creëert voor experiment, onderzoek en uitvoering in Rotterdam. We delen houdingen ten opzichte van tactieken, referenties, voorouders en antecedenten in improvisatie en stuwen de muziekpraktijk vooruit in hun vele groepen en ad hoc combinaties.
Wij, de kunstenaars achter het initiatief, herkennen de improvisatiecultuur in onze stad en koesteren deze. AIM bindt het samen, het katalyseert publieke situaties; teruggeven aan de gemeenschap van mede-improvisatoren en het publiek.
