Chieko + Juliano is a creative multi instrumental duo. Formed by Chieko, a cellist, singer and composer from Amsterdam with Brazilian/Japanese roots and Juliano, (guitar, ud, composition) from Brazil. After playing together in São Paulo, they felt a strong creative connection and decided to continue exploring this collaboration as a duo in the Netherlands. Their music explores free improvisations and original compositions combined with as Latin American and Japanese folk songs in innovative ways. It’s a joyful experimentation pool for all the instruments they play: rabeca, oud, cello, marimbau, guitar and voice. With their music, they bring a beautiful harmonious sound and heartwarming songs as well as adventurous improvisations that leave you on the edge of your seat.
Chieko + Juliano is een nieuw creatief duo van Chieko Donker Duyvis, celliste, zangeres, componiste uit Amsterdam met Braziliaans-Japanse roots en Juliano Abramovay (gitaar, ud, compositie) uit Brazilië.
Samen vormen ze een multi-instrumentaal ensemble dat je meeneemt naar een sprookjesachtige klankwereld met avontuurlijke improvisaties en muziek uit alle windstreken. Hun composities zijn geïnspireerd door jazz, impressionistische soundscapes en Braziliaanse en Japanse muziek samengevlochten tot een uniek nieuw geluid. Ze experimenteren volop met al hun instrumenten: ud, cello, gitaar en Braziliaanse
folksinstrumenten als de rabeca en marimbau in hun vrije improvisaties. Een speeltuin vol luisterplezier!
