Amaltea is a music collective that will take you on a journey through different sounds and experiences. The band writes and arranges the music together drawing inspiration from the members musical heritage. The songs are a special blend of folk sound and an intimate style of music, with a very special orchestration of instruments.
While Lorenzo Mastrogregori (Italy, percussion) and Guzman Calzada (Uruguay, guitar) come from the world of jazz, pop and electronics, the rest of the band Xaquín Cribeiro (Spain, violin and vocals), Laura Foixà (Spain, cello and vocals) Miguel Moreno (Spain, Double Bass) are graduated and working musicians in the world of classical and modern music.
The line up gives their songs both the intimacy of a string trio or the power of a latin band, drawing emotional landscapes as well as making you dance, laugh and sing! The project was born in Den Haag during the winter/spring of 2019-2020. Since then, they recorded their first album, named after the band, which came out in October 2021.
Amaltea is the moon that shares light with music, drawing landscapes made of memories and roots, escaping from fix models or styles, being each song a little universe with peculiar colours and sounds. They tell about love and life, places far away and people all around the world. Amaltea is named after Jupiter’s moon, a place of no clear shape which is gravitating towards the urge to make music together."
This event is hosted by Gustavo Cabrera.
