‘A sense of fragility’ is the culmination of works, written primarily in the 21st century, put together by pianist Danyon Verhaege. It is a combination of acoustic piano repertoire intertwined with pieces that use electronics.
"In this intimate set I want to challenge the listener to think about times they have felt fragile, either emotional or physical and reflect on how this might have changed them"
The recital will function as a try-out of this concept with the wish to later program this into a concert series.
Danyon Verhaege is a Belgian/Irish pianist, based in Rotterdam. He studied at Kask en Conservatorium Gent where he gained an interest in contemporary music. Danyon has performed with Studio Musikfabrik and was a member of the contemporary music ensemble EMC.
Nele Mennes – Batavier, vocalist and vocal improviser and host of this concert, will join the stage. They share their common ground of improvised music and their love for deep connection. Together they will explore an adventurous improvisation.
