Laia Escartin hosts the last Wereld Sessies at the Batavierhuis, with Ronald Sneidjers and Elizabeth Fadel
Wereld Sessies is a series of concerts and encounters where people come together to share, enjoy and create. The project, usually held at Samenhuis, a co-living located in the South of Rotterdam, comes to the Batavierhuis for its fifth and final edition, hosted by Laia Escartin. Each session features music from a different country/region of the globe, played by great musicians from the city of Rotterdam. After the 1st set, the stage is open for a jam session, where the boundaries become blurred, the environment freer and the different cultures come all together, united by this universal language called music.
For the last concert of this first series, nothing better than to finish with music that exemplifies a melting pot from the Global South than African-Surinamese. Specially when our guest is one of the main flutists in the Dutch Scene for many years, and is highly regarded for his influence and work on establishing ties between the Netherlands and its homeland, Suriname. It’s an honor to have Ronald Snijders on stage, in a duo with Elizabeth Fadel, the beloved artistic host for this project. Together they will explore the African-Surinamese roots, but certainly travelling around on their virtuosis.
After the concert our traditional Jam Session will follow, open to musicians and enthusiasts, and traditional food will be served! There’s a bar at the Batavierhuis, where you can order drinks.
