In the delicate and fragile historical moment in which we live we think that only through music and art is possible to overcome the difficulties, prejudices and fears that the media offer us every day. Neighbors is an encountering between the music of West and East that aims to create better “neighborly” relationship through the sharing and the acknowledgment of our human and cultural values.
Neighbors performed in international world music festivals and venues (Music Meeting, Etétrad, De Doelen), recorded the sound-track of the documentary about Tunisia Biserta – storia a spirale (Cosenude Media Projects).
They work as teachers in Codarts (Rotterdam) leading a large ensemble that performs new arrangements of Persian classical music.
Simone Bottasso is accordionist, composer and conductor. He blends his traditional roots with as many genres as possible. His omnivorous interest in music and the use of imagination in creating sound is constantly driving him in creating music that firstly surprises himself.
Reza Mirjalali started music at an early age; his father, Maestro Shahram Mirjalali, started teaching him Tombak and Tar. His desire is to make a bridge between East and West Culture through music.
Niti Ranjan Biswas is an open-minded and keenly sensitive percussionist, firmly grounded in traditional styles of Tabla playing, as well as a versatile accompanist in Jazz and experimental ensembles. His subtle and rhythmically complex performance style reflects an extraordinary level of maturity and attention to compositional detail, rendered in a gutsy, playful and polished manner.
