The Ensemble Interactivo de La Habana (EIH) is touring Europe for the very first time! When these four musicians start improvising the unexpected is what rules. In their performances not even the talented musicians of this singular Cuban quartet know what will happen in the concert – and therein lies the challenge: how can they create/compose an hour-long musical journey purely through collective improvisation?

Dynamic orchestrations, funny dialogues, uncanny textures, surreal atmospheres and an intrinsic rhythmic and percussive vocation make the perfect formula for a truly authentic explosion of vibrations that sneaks up on audience and performers alike. The EIH’s instrumental arsenal is a mix of classical instruments, a wide variety of ethnic and miscellaneous sources and interactive electronics that process sound in real time.
The EIH’s goal is to offer an open musical experience, not bound by any style or aesthetic, but genuinely welcoming as many sources, inspirations and influences as they can, while celebrating diversity and serendipity.

Verwacht het onverwachte met het Ensemble Interactivo de La Habana (EIH), dat voor het eerst op tournee is in Europa. In elke van hun zeer verschillende performances weten zelfs de leden van dit unieke kwartet nooit precies wat er gaat gebeuren – en hierin ligt de uitdaging: hoe kunnen zij een muzikale reis van ruim een uur creëren/componeren door middel van collectieve improvisatie?

Dynamische orkestraties, grappige dialogen, gekke texturen, surreële sferen en een intrinsiek ritmische en percussieve identiteit vormen de perfecte formule voor een authentieke explosie van vibraties waarin zowel publiek als performers ondergedompeld worden. Het instrumentarium van EIH is een mix van klassieke instrumenten en een verscheidenheid aan andere – soms etnische – geluidsbronnen. Met live elektronica bewerken zij in real-time het geluid en creëren zo een extra laag in het geheel.
EIH streeft ernaar om vrije muzikale ervaringen te bieden die niet gebonden zijn aan een specifieke stijl of esthetiek maar die putten uit zo veel mogelijk inspiratiebronnen en invloeden. Met de diversiteit die daaruit voortkomt vieren we de magie van het moment.
