Julie Adalsteinsson

Born in 1997 in Luxembourg, Julie Adalsteinsson started playing the violin under the guidance of Sofie Vermeersch when she was eight years old.

She is currently doing the academy of Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and finishing her master’s degree at the Kunstuniversität Graz in the class of Giovanni Guzzo and previously with Silvia Marcovici. In 2016 she completed her Bachelor’s degree with Natasja Morozova at Codarts University for the Arts, in Rotterdam. During these years she has performed actively as a soloist with orchestras such as Luxembourg Philharmonia, Jugendsinfonieorchester Eifel-Ardennen, and Orquestra Philarmónica de Lisboa.

In 2016 she won the first prize at the ‘21’ Century Art Competition (International Forum) in Vienna and in 2022 her piano trio won the second prize in the Martha Debelli competition. She has followed master classes with renowned violinists like Sebastian Bohren, Gordan Nikolic, Cornelia Gudea, Sandrine Cantoreggi, Larissa Kolos, and Misha Furman.

As an enthusiastic orchestra player, she has been a member of the EUYO (European Union Youth Orchestra), the NJO (Dutch National Youth Orchestra), and Jong Metropole Orkest amongst others.
