Nuria Comorera Nosas

Núria Comorera Nosàs, born in 1999, started playing cello at the age of 3 in Barcelona, Spain, where she started learning music following the Suzuki method and continued her musical
education with Professor Cristoforo Pestalozzi.

In 2017, at the age of 17 years old, she was accepted with a full scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music, in New York City, where she studied in the studio of Professor Philippe Muller and after that she continued her studies with Professor Rhonda Rider at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee where she graduated “Summa cum laude” with her bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance. She is currently taking cello lessons with professor Gustav Rivinius. Furthermore, Núria has had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses for renowned cellists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Gary Hoffman, Claudio Bohórquez, Steven Isserlis, Arnau Tomàs, Lluís Claret, Peter Stumpf, Peter Bruns, among others

Núria has received several awards at prestigious competitions around Europe including the “Torneo Internacional de Música” in Spain and France (2013), as well as the “Vic Cello Festival” (2014), where she was awarded first prize and the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the National Orchestra of Catalunya (JONC). Recently she has also won first prize at the“Fivesparks Music Competition” in Harvard University (USA), receiving her own recital series. Orchestrally related, Núria was invited in the summer of both 2017 and 2018 to be a member of the Verbier Festival Junior Orchestra as part of the Verbier Festival, and during 2015, 2016 and 2017 seasons she won the principal cello position in the Barcelona Youth Symphony Orchestra. In 2022 she was selected to become a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), taking the role of principal cello in multiple occasions. This year, she has been invited to join the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra.

Núria Comorera Nosàs is currently finishing an Artist Diploma in orchestral performance in the prestigious OAcademy with cellist Ilmari Hopkins. In continuing with the next steps of her career, Núria will be an academist in the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra during the 2023-2024 season.
